Angry Keller residents oppose proposed data center plans at Westlake meeting

The Westlake Planning and Zoning Commission has unanimously voted to approve a site plan for a proposed 87.9-acre, 1.1 million square foot data center located near the border of Keller, Texas.
This decision was made despite significant public opposition from Keller residents who expressed concerns regarding the lack of transparency in Westlake's planning process. One resident stated that Westlake had no intention of informing Keller about the development, noting that her children attend a nearby elementary school.
Opposition also highlighted potential environmental impacts, including mechanical noise, nighttime light pollution, and effects on air quality and natural resources. A representative from a local monastery voiced concerns that the data center's proximity threatens their religious practice and ability to serve the community due to these disruptions.
