Amazon eyes Greater Cincinnati suburb for $5B data center
Amazon Web Services is in negotiations for a significant data center project in Butler County, Ohio. The proposed $5 billion development would span 601 acres across Madison and St. Clair Townships and include 18 buildings. This expansion marks Amazon's continued investment in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Amazon.com Inc., through its subsidiary Amazon Web Services (AWS), is reportedly in advanced negotiations for a substantial data center project in Butler County, Ohio, according to statements from local administrators and elected officials. The proposed development, with an estimated value of $5 billion, is slated for a 601-acre site located within Madison and St. Clair Townships, just south of the city of Trenton.
The expansive site, currently composed of farmland and undeveloped land, is situated along Wayne Madison Road and Hawkins Road, extending south toward Augspurger Road and the Great Miami River. The project blueprint calls for the construction of 18 buildings, each approximately 220,000 square feet. This scale is comparable to the buildings in Prologis’ existing four-building data center project northeast of the proposed AWS site within Trenton’s city limits.
AWS already operates a data center campus in Dublin, Ohio, indicating a continued expansion strategy in the state. The new facility would significantly expand Amazon's infrastructure in the Greater Cincinnati area.
