This new commitment brings Amazon's total planned capital investment in the state to $25 billion and is expected to create 700 new jobs, contributing to over 2,000 jobs statewide. The expansion includes existing AWS sites near Canton and Ridgeland, with a planned $1 billion project also announced for Clinton. Specifically, the Canton AWS facilities will utilize 100% recycled wastewater from the Big Black River for cooling, while the Ridgeland site will only use water for cooling approximately 30 days a year. Regarding electricity, Wehner stated that Amazon has funded all infrastructure costs to avoid impacting other Entergy Mississippi ratepayers. Haley Fisackerly, President and CEO of Entergy Mississippi, confirmed the partnership strengthens the power grid, improves reliability, and helps keep future customer bills lower. Governor Tate Reeves praised Amazon's reinvestment, highlighting the transformational economic growth and high-tech job opportunities for Mississippians.
