Lincoln County Moves Monday’s Data Center Hearings to City Hall
Lincoln County will hold public hearings on proposed amendments to its zoning regulations concerning data centers. The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners will meet at North Platte City Hall to discuss these changes, which follow earlier discussions about a temporary moratorium. Commissioners are expected to vote on adopting the amendments after the hearings.
The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners is relocating its upcoming Monday, August 31 meeting to the North Platte City Hall Council Chambers to accommodate anticipated public interest. The meeting will feature three public hearings beginning at 10 a.m. to discuss proposed amendments to the county's zoning regulations specifically targeting data centers.
The proposed changes include updates to conditional use regulations in response to recent state legislative changes, the addition of "ancillary data centers" as permitted uses in various zoning districts (A-1, TA-1, C-1, I-1, AGV, and LCR), and amendments to Section 8.22 of the Lincoln County Zoning Regulations, which directly addresses data center regulations.
These hearings follow several months of public debate regarding potential data center development within Lincoln County, including a previous commissioners meeting that focused on a proposed temporary moratorium. Following each public hearing, the commissioners are scheduled to consider resolutions for the adoption of the proposed amendments.
