The City of Pittsburg, California, conducted a five-and-a-half-hour virtual community engagement workshop on July 30 to discuss its data center development. This followed the City Council's unanimous approval of a 300,000 square-foot data center in November 2024, planned for the former Delta View Golf Course, now designated a "technology center".
Mayor Dionne Adams, acknowledging significant public interest, recused herself from the data center discussion due to legal advice received from the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC). Her recusal stems from a potential conflict of interest as she serves on both the City Council and the Pittsburg Power Company (PPC) board, while also being an employee of PG&E, a party to an interconnection agreement with PPC crucial for the data center project. The Mayor emphasized the need for more information and transparency, committing to strengthening community outreach on the project.
