Several hundred Western Henrico residents attended a community meeting to oppose four proposed hyperscale data center campuses in neighboring Goochland County. The projects include Tract’s pending 900-megawatt Tuckahoe Technology Park and three additional by-right proposals, prompting concerns about property values, health, noise, water use and environmental impacts.

Several hundred Western Henrico residents gathered at a community meeting to voice opposition to four proposed data center campuses in eastern Goochland County near Henrico neighborhoods and schools. Tract has filed an application with the Goochland Planning Commission for the 900-megawatt Tuckahoe Technology Park, while three additional projects totaling up to 2,000 megawatts have appeared in Dominion Energy regulatory filings.

The Tuckahoe project will undergo community meetings and public hearings before a vote by the Goochland County Board of Supervisors. The other proposals fall within Goochland’s Technology Overlay District and could proceed under by-right zoning without public hearings or a board vote. Henrico Supervisor Misty Roundtree said she is seeking stronger buffers and protections, while Delegate May Nivar asked Goochland supervisors to reject the projects. Residents also raised concerns about water supplied by Henrico, environmental effects on Tuckahoe Creek, noise, diesel generators and property values; a related lawsuit involving Goochland leaders and the overlay district was also discussed.
