Data center plans to replace water tower in Turkey
Data center company QTS announced plans to replace the aging water tower in Turkey, Texas, as part of a $250 million investment in Texas water infrastructure. The small town of Turkey, Texas, located about 100 miles northeast of Lubbock, is set to receive much-needed water infrastructure upgrades. Data center company QTS, which is building a 465-acre data center campus about 5 miles south of the town, announced its promise to replace Turkey's aging water tower.
According to City Manager Limit Finley, the town's water infrastructure is a critical issue, with the existing water tower having gone out two weeks prior, leaving some residents without water and others under a boil notice. The town had been working on a plan to get a new water tower but faced challenges in securing grants to cover the estimated $3 to $5 million price tag. QTS's investment is expected to expedite these necessary upgrades.
