2026 Voters Guide: Sean M. Parks running for Lake County Commission District 2
Lake County Commission candidate Sean M. Parks says he supports pausing data center development while the county develops regulations addressing electricity demand, water use, land use and consumer protections. He argues that data centers should pay for any generation, transmission, substation, water and grid infrastructure they require rather than shifting costs to residential customers and small businesses.
In an Orlando Sentinel voters guide profile, Lake County Commission District 2 candidate Sean M. Parks outlined his position on growth, infrastructure and environmental protection. Parks said he supports a pause on data centers while Lake County develops regulations, restrictions and water-resource safeguards, including requirements for decommissioning and stronger planning for impacts on communities, land and utilities.
Parks also called for the Florida Public Service Commission to adopt large-load tariffs, upfront engineering studies, long-term contracts, minimum demand charges and financial guarantees for major power users. He said data centers should bear the costs of new generation, transmission, substations, water infrastructure and grid upgrades, while protecting ratepayers and existing businesses from higher utility bills.
