Kline Twp. supervisors vote to approve Amazon data center proposal with conditions
Kline Township supervisors unanimously approved Amazon's proposed data center campus near Interstate 81 and Route 309, subject to conditions covering noise, environmental protections, maintenance and water supply. Residents criticized the decision and called for stronger zoning rules, while Amazon still must complete the township's full zoning approval process before construction can begin.
Kline Township supervisors approved Amazon's proposed data center campus after the township planning commission recommended the project with conditions. The nine-page conditions document, prepared by Amazon and the commission's consultants, addresses noise, environmental protections, long-term upkeep and water supply concerns for the site near Interstate 81 and Route 309.
Residents including Tina Romanowski and Debbie Moskovich expressed frustration after the unanimous vote, arguing that township officials had not done enough to protect residents or update local ordinances. Although the proposal received approval from the supervisors, Amazon has not yet submitted its zoning approval application and must complete the township's full zoning process before construction can begin.
