Flagstaff Data Center Zoning Update

The City of Flagstaff is actively exploring potential zoning code amendments pertaining to data centers, a topic of considerable community interest. City staff are working to mitigate possible impacts, particularly regarding water use, energy demand, and other vital resources. During a May 5 Public Hearing, staff provided the City Council with an update on the proposed zoning changes. Recognizing the significance of the issue, staff requested additional time to broaden public outreach efforts and gather more extensive community input. This extended period will also allow for further research into available options. City staff plan to present community feedback and seek further direction from both the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council at a future date. The City reiterated its commitment to maintaining a robust zoning code that protects community interests and resources, emphasizing that no data center applications have been received or are currently under consideration.
