Amazon is advancing data center construction in Caddo and Bossier parishes, with the first building expected to come online by next summer. At the Resilient Parkway site in Shreveport, company leaders said groundbreaking is only weeks away, while construction is already visible along Stateline Road in Caddo Parish and at a Bossier Parish site.
Amazon Web Services Vice President of Economic Development Roger Wehner said the company will host career education sessions, a four-week paid apprenticeship program and an educator workshop. Amazon also plans to establish an endowment to help local community college students cover educational costs. The programs are intended to prepare residents for construction, operations, hardware and data center technician positions, despite continued skepticism from some area residents about the projects.
