Lobby group protesting data centers plans Sept. 28 Cheyenne stop during national tour

A lobby group named Humans First is undertaking a national "AI Data Center Revolt" bus tour to protest the extensive industrial development of data centers across the United States. The organization, which identifies as a political action group, expresses concerns that the interests of "Big Tech" and artificial intelligence corporations are superseding the welfare of individuals and conservative values, despite stating they are not entirely against AI advancements.

The tour's bus, adorned with American farmland imagery and the slogan "AI Data Center Revolt," is scheduled to make 36 stops in 27 states, including a prominent stop in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on September 28. In Cheyenne, the group plans to gather outside the Cheyenne Municipal Building at 2101 O'Neil Avenue, having already submitted an assembly permit application that is currently being processed by Cheyenne City Clerk Kylie Soden.

At these demonstrations, Humans First aims to demand greater local control over development, safeguard farmland and natural resources like water, protect ratepayers from increased costs, oppose the use of eminent domain for data centers, and end "corporate welfare" for large technology companies. The group emphasizes that their mission is not anti-technology but rather focused on ensuring the AI revolution benefits, rather than harms, American families, farmers, workers, and communities. Another stop is planned for Laramie, Wyoming, though a specific location there has not been disclosed.
