
Antora Raises $550 Million to Expand U.S. Energy Storage Manufacturing and Deployment
Antora Energy has secured $550 million in Series C financing to expand its U.S. manufacturing and deployment of thermal energy storage systems. This funding aims to address the increasing electricity demand from data centers and industrial facilities nationwide. The company plans to scale production and execute commercial projects, building on its recent completion of a large battery storage system in South Dakota.
Antora Energy announced it has closed an oversubscribed $550 million Series C financing round, co-led by G2 Venture Partners and Eclipse, with participation from new and existing investors. This capital infusion is earmarked to accelerate the deployment of Antora's thermal energy storage systems, expand its U.S. manufacturing capacity, and bolster its domestic supply chain.
The company's expansion is driven by the escalating electricity demand from data centers and industrial facilities, particularly with the growth of artificial intelligence infrastructure. Antora aims to scale its production and execute a growing pipeline of commercial projects, offering reliable energy solutions that can be deployed faster than traditional generation methods. This move follows a period of significant commercial execution, including the recent completion of a 5-gigawatt-hour battery storage project in South Dakota, which went from construction to energy delivery in under 12 months.
Antora's technology stores low-cost electricity as heat in insulated solid carbon blocks, then converts it to heat or electricity when needed. Unlike conventional batteries, its thermal batteries provide multi-day energy storage using abundant materials. CEO Andrew Ponec stated the new capital would enable continued investment in U.S. manufacturing and accelerate the deployment of large-scale energy systems both domestically and internationally. The company has also expanded its San Jose, California, operations into a three-building manufacturing campus, supporting American manufacturing jobs across skilled trades.
