Nassau County seeks public comment on data center development
Nassau County commissioners are seeking public comment on a report recommending strict rules for data center development, including limits on locations, noise and lighting, and cost responsibility. Residents in Yulee voiced opposition ahead of a public workshop, while a countywide ban on data center development remains in effect.
Nassau County officials released a report from a fact-finding committee created by county commissioners in May to examine data center development. The report recommends strict location requirements, limits on noise and light, and rules determining who would pay for related infrastructure.
County commissioners will hold a public workshop for residents to comment on the recommendations. Some Yulee residents oppose data centers, arguing that the county already has strong growth, schools and local employment and does not need the additional development. A ban on data center development remains in place in Nassau County through the period referenced in the report.
