County to host data center open houses
Blue Earth County will host open houses in Mapleton and Lake Crystal to gather public input on the future of data centers. The meetings and an online survey will address issues including property values and energy consumption and follow the county's enacted moratorium on data centers.
Blue Earth County is organizing two public open houses to discuss potential data center development and its effects on the community. The sessions are scheduled for October 20 in Mapleton and October 26 in Lake Crystal, both from 4 to 6 p.m.
Residents can provide feedback in person or through an online survey covering issues such as property values and energy consumption. The outreach follows the county's passage of a moratorium on data centers and is intended to inform future discussions.
