Amazon is significantly increasing its planned investment in Northwest Louisiana's data center projects, raising the total from $12 billion to $18 billion. This expansion includes the addition of a third data center campus located at Resilient Technology Park in Shreveport.
The additional $6 billion investment is expected to generate 210 direct jobs, bringing the overall project's direct job creation to 750 across the three campuses. Furthermore, construction activities are anticipated to support up to 2,250 jobs for local contractors, skilled tradespeople, and suppliers. Amazon and STACK Infrastructure will continue developing these campuses in Caddo and Bossier parishes.
Amazon has also committed up to $400 million for public water infrastructure and will fully fund necessary improvements to water, wastewater, energy, and grid systems for its facilities, aiming to prevent these costs from impacting existing utility customers. The company states its data centers will primarily utilize air cooling, reserving water-based cooling for temperatures exceeding approximately 85 degrees. Since the initial project announcement in February, Amazon has reportedly provided nearly $500,000 in grants to local nonprofits, schools, and community members.
