Amazon has purchased land in West Richland and is exploring development of a potential data center campus. The early-stage proposal could eventually include up to 21 buildings and create more than 1,000 jobs, but no permits have been filed.
Amazon has confirmed to West Richland officials that it purchased land in the city and is evaluating a potential data center campus. The initial phase could involve three buildings, generate as many as 150 full-time jobs and produce millions of dollars in annual local tax revenue.
Tri-City Development Council officials said a full buildout could reach 21 buildings and more than 1,000 jobs. The project remains preliminary, with no permit applications filed; Amazon plans to discuss the proposal at a community open house on Nov. 19.
