The Sulphur Springs City Council voted to amend its budget, allocating $1.2 million to cover legal fees stemming from two lawsuits concerning proposed data center plans. This decision drew strong opposition from residents attending the meeting, who voiced their disagreement with the project as a whole and criticized the use of taxpayer money for legal defense. One resident stated, "We did not ask for this project to go forward. Therefore, all of the legal fees that were incurred are something we never even got a vote on. We have not been given any kind of answers to our questions."
Mayor Tyler Law declined to speak on camera but indicated that the budget adjustment would not lead to an increase in taxes for Sulphur Springs residents.
