Lincoln County, Nebraska, is preparing for a significant public hearing where residents will voice their opinions on proposed amendments to data center zoning regulations. The hearing, moved to the North Platte city council chambers to accommodate an anticipated overflow crowd, is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. Residents are expected to advocate for stricter development standards, following a previous hearing in August where 20 speakers, all but one, requested tougher rules.
The revised zoning regulations have been under review for nearly three months. Deputy County Attorney Tyler Volkmer and Zoning Administrator Judy Clark have reviewed submitted revision proposals. Following public comments, the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners, including Chairman Kent C. Weems, Micaela M. Wuehler, Joe Hewgley, Jerry Woodruff, and Christopher D. Bruns, are expected to consider and potentially vote on each of the three proposed amendments.
