Salem Township supervisors approve data center district expansion tied to proposed micro-hospital
Salem Township supervisors approved zoning-map amendments that nearly triple the township's data center overlay district and add 185 acres for a potential fourth campus. The associated proposal includes a $12 million 24-hour micro-hospital, while public reaction was divided and further land-development and state approvals are required.
Salem Township supervisors John Fogg and Chairman Rick Talanca approved two ordinances expanding the township's data center overlay district, while Supervisor Steven Fraind abstained because property tied to his family is part of a land sale associated with the proposed campus. The expansion would support a planned 4,466-acre, $1.2 billion data center campus and an additional 185-acre area requested by Moores 109 LLC for a potential fourth campus.
Jack Sordoni, principal of 4-3 Consulting Group, presented a proposed $12 million micro-hospital as part of a potential $43 million community benefit agreement. The facility would include a full emergency department operating around the clock. Eight public speakers supported the data center expansion and five opposed it; developers must still obtain land-development approval from the supervisors and state approvals.
