Google is reportedly planning a new five-building data center in Little Rock, Arkansas, near the Sweet Home community, with the project currently in its permanent phase. Jay Cheshire, President and CEO of the Little Rock Regional Chamber, has confirmed Google's interest and champions the development as a crucial investment for improving local utilities and technological infrastructure, emphasizing Arkansas's need to keep pace with advancing technology. The proposed data center is expected to consume 100MW of power.

However, the project has met with opposition from some neighborhood groups in the Little Rock area. These groups have raised significant concerns about the potential strain on electricity and water resources, as well as broader public safety implications. They are seeking
