Geronimo Power CEO Blake Nixon offered to pause the company’s Harmony Township data center application for six months while the township evaluates the project. The proposal comes as Harmony Township considers a two-year moratorium, with a public hearing and possible vote scheduled amid disputes over legal notice and the township’s handling of the process.

Geronimo Power CEO Blake Nixon said the company would voluntarily pause its data center application in Harmony Township for six months, offering what he described as a shorter alternative to the township’s proposed two-year moratorium. The company circulated a petition presenting residents with the six-month option.

Nixon argued that the proposed moratorium could be legally invalid because the township provided 13 days’ notice instead of the 15 days required under North Dakota law. Attorney Joel Fremstad, who represents former township chairman Tom Roden, also questioned the cost of the township’s legal representation and urged officials to postpone the scheduled hearings until proper notice is given. A special meeting of the Harmony Township Zoning Commission and Board of Supervisors remained scheduled at the Mapleton Community Center for Thursday evening.
