Piedmont City Council advanced amended plans for Beltline Energy’s proposed 640-acre data center campus, while a separate Cloverleaf Infrastructure project is also moving through the approval process. Residents oppose both developments over concerns about noise, water consumption, infrastructure and impacts on nearby homes; neither project has final construction approval.

The Piedmont City Council approved an amended master design statement for Beltline Energy’s proposed 640-acre data center campus, which could include about 19 buildings, but sent the plan back to the Planning and Zoning Commission for further review. The proposal may require environmental studies, noise protections and landscaping, and will return for additional consideration before any final construction approval.

The action followed the council’s approval of an amended plan for Cloverleaf Infrastructure’s separate 633-acre project, which could include six buildings. Residents continued to voice opposition to both developments, citing water use, noise, infrastructure demands and effects on nearby homes. The council postponed action on a proposed data center moratorium until November, while additional hearings for both projects remain scheduled.
