Hubbard Township residents oppose data centers, proposed zoning resolution
Hubbard Township residents voiced strong opposition to potential data center development at a trustees meeting, citing concerns about community impacts and possible PFAS contamination of the water system. The Trumbull County Zoning Commission recommended additional restrictions, including prohibiting data centers in residential, agricultural, conservation and floodplain districts, but trustees did not vote on the proposal.
Residents packed a Hubbard Township trustees meeting to oppose potential data center development, with speakers warning about impacts on the community and possible water contamination from PFAS. Trustee Monica Baker read a recommendation from the Trumbull County Zoning Commission that would add restrictions to a proposed nine-page resolution governing data center developers.
The proposed rules would prohibit data centers in residential, agricultural, conservation and floodplain zoning districts. No vote was taken, and a hearing was scheduled for Oct. 27 to further discuss the resolution and review the Hubbard Township Planning Commission's response and recommendations.
