The Coffee County Commission in Tennessee unanimously approved a one-year moratorium on new data centers, with all 13 commissioners present voting in favor. Coffee County Mayor Dennis Hunt indicated that the decision was prompted by language in the Agricultural zoning district that he believed facilitated data center development.

Following the temporary ban, the Planning Commission is tasked with reviewing and proposing modifications to the county's zoning regulations. Concurrently, the City of McMinnville also passed its own data center moratorium, which will be in effect for 18 months, with the approval met by applause from attendees.
