The Oneonta Town Board has voted to set a public hearing on a proposal to create a moratorium on new data center projects in the town, with a few exemptions. Town Supervisor Will Rivera said the moratorium, if passed, would lay the groundwork for a "thorough review or analysis" of the potential impacts of a data center on the Oneonta community. Rivera indicated the moratorium would have a time limit attached to it. The decision comes after more than six months of contention surrounding a data center proposal in the town. The public hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, where residents will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on the proposed moratorium.
