Residents in West Jordan, including Theresa Sorensen, Allen Smith and Steve Ready, say noise from Aligned Data Centers' nearby campus has become a persistent quality-of-life problem. They describe low-frequency humming, loud and unpredictable generator operation, sleepless nights, blocked views and concerns about generator emissions and declining property values.

Aligned Data Centers said its backup generators are housed in sound-reducing enclosures and generally operate only for brief testing, emergencies or planned outages. The company previously announced plans for the SLC-03 facility, which was expected to add more than 100 megawatts of capacity to the campus. The residents' complaints come as additional data centers are proposed across Utah, prompting broader debate over noise, taxes, electricity and economic benefits.
