Fundamental Data, the company behind a proposed data center project in Tucker County, West Virginia, has provided a response to the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) regarding its request for additional site information.
The company confirmed it submitted a partially redacted copy of its land agreement, explaining that the redactions were necessary to protect sensitive financial terms and negotiated provisions belonging to both parties involved in the private contract. Casey Chapman, representing Fundamental Data, clarified that these redactions do not hide details related to emission limits or other environmental compliance aspects.
Chapman also reassured Tucker County residents that the project, named Ridgeline, will adhere to all state environmental standards and will not burden local taxpayers or utility customers. He emphasized that the electricity costs associated with serving the Ridgeline data center will be borne solely by the users creating the demand and will not be recovered through the rates of families or small businesses in the state. The project is currently still under development, with commercial decisions yet to be finalized.
