A new data center at Region 12 in Waco, Texas, has officially opened following a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The facility is designed to provide high-performance computing, network infrastructure, and advanced technology services to more than 70 school districts, nine charter schools, and also businesses and hospitals in underserved communities.

Bill Radford, Vice President of Technology with Duos Edge AI, the company that built the data center, emphasized its small footprint and minimal resource usage. He stated that the facility's power consumption is comparable to a McDonald's and it uses zero water, addressing growing concerns in Texas about data center demands on water and electricity.

Kenny Berry, Executive Director of Region 12, highlighted the partnership's ability to provide secure, reliable, and fast data storage solutions for districts. The service is free for the affiliated school districts, with several already expressing interest in utilizing the new center.
