The City of Westover in Shelby County, Alabama, is preparing to host a town hall meeting concerning a proposed data center development. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, August 20, at New Life Church in Sterrett, comes after the city council deferred a vote on a data center moratorium during its previous session.

The expansive proposed site covers nearly 450 acres situated along Highway 280 and Cheshire Drive. Mayor Bobby Pardue confirmed that, as of earlier this week, no permits related to the project have been submitted to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. He also stated that neither he nor other city officials have entered into any non-disclosure agreements regarding the development.

The town hall is expected to draw a diverse group of attendees, including data center CEOs, representatives from Shelby County Water Services, officials from Alabama Power, and various city leaders.
