Oracle wants PSC to change part of data center electric rates to avoid $100 million in bank fees - BizTimes
Oracle is urging the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to modify recently enacted electric rates for data centers in southeastern Wisconsin. The tech giant aims to avoid an estimated $100 million in bank fees that would result from the current rate structure. The rates were initially approved following a proposal from We Energies for large electricity customers.
Austin, Texas-based tech giant Oracle is appealing to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) to revise a portion of the recently approved electric rates applicable to data centers in southeastern Wisconsin. The company claims the current rate structure would lead to $100 million in bank fees.
The PSC had previously given its approval to a proposal from We Energies, which established electric rates for very large customers, including data centers. Oracle's request seeks to re-open and alter these enacted rates.
