NorthMark Strategies is hosting a tele-town hall to address community concerns regarding its $2.8 billion data center in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The project, slated for the former Kohler plant site on South Pine Street, received tax break approval from Spartanburg County leaders in 2025.

This public engagement comes amidst growing local opposition to data centers. Spartanburg County Council recently rejected a separate $3 billion data center proposal in the Tyger River Industrial Park following community pushback and state legislative efforts to regulate data center construction. The Council has also moved to draft a one-year moratorium on future data center development.

NorthMark's town hall is scheduled just before a South Carolina Department of Environmental Services hearing on the company's plans to power its data center with gas turbines. The company is encouraging public participation in the call, which can accommodate at least 1,500 people, with priority for questions from local zip codes.
