Google and Beale Infrastructure have commenced construction on a sprawling 506-acre data center campus in unincorporated Tulsa County, Oklahoma, near the Cherokee Industrial Park. The project, referred to as Project Clydesdale, signifies a major expansion of Google's infrastructure in the state, building upon its previous investments in Oklahoma since 2011.
The development includes substantial infrastructure upgrades, such as funding for a new on-site substation to be powered by Public Service Company of Oklahoma, aimed at enhancing energy reliability and grid stability across the region. Additionally, the project will finance and install 1.5 miles of new water lines and infrastructure improvements for Washington County Rural Water District No. 3, ensuring a more robust water system for local communities. Roadway improvements are also part of the plan, as noted by the Indian Nations Council of Governments.
Beyond infrastructure, Google is committing to workforce development, supporting a program with the electrical training ALLIANCE to train existing electrical workers and onboard over 160 apprentices in Oklahoma by 2030. Tulsa Tech Superintendent and CEO Steve Tiger expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the district's role in training the workforce for the facility's construction and operation. Google Public Affairs Manager for Oklahoma, Trystine Payfer, and Beale COO Julian Kudritzki emphasized the project's long-term commitment to Tulsa County's future and confidence in Oklahoma's economic landscape, with plans for further investments in education, small business support, and digital access.
