Delhi Township trustees will consider a resolution opposing a proposed data center on a 423-acre site off College Road. The township is already operating under a 12-month moratorium on data center proposals, while Lansing Economic Area Partnership and Lighthouse Sustainability plan community outreach for a potential $10 billion, 700-megawatt facility.

The Delhi Charter Township Board of Trustees called a special meeting to consider formally opposing a proposed data center after township officials said they were surprised by an announcement involving the Lansing Economic Area Partnership and Lighthouse Sustainability. The resolution would ask the potential developers to stop pursuing the project, citing substantial negative public feedback and a statement that the plans would be dropped if the community opposed them.

The proposed facility could represent a $10 billion investment and generate an estimated $53 million in annual revenue, according to information presented by Lighthouse co-founder Tom Dorris. The concept includes 700 megawatts of capacity, six hours of battery storage, closed-loop cooling, about 90 acres of preserved nature and community benefits. Delhi Township has ended its membership in LEAP and is under a 12-month moratorium scheduled to expire in April, while the partners plan a six-month community engagement campaign before then.
