The City of Cheyenne's Public Services Committee is scheduled to meet today to deliberate on several key ordinances and land requests before they proceed to a final city council vote on June 22.

A significant item on the agenda includes the proposed rezoning of approximately 3,000 acres of a 3,500-acre tract for a Microsoft data center campus. This land is owned by Senator Cynthia Lummis' family and is part of a larger annexation proposal. The Planning Commission has recommended denying some of these data center development requests, citing concerns that the city is rushing into such projects without adequately considering their impacts on current residents and future residential development.

In addition to the data center rezoning, the committee will also review an ordinance to establish special entertainment overlay districts for historic horse racing facilities and an ordinance to update the city's municipal electric code to comply with new national standards. If approved, the proposed annexations and rezonings would also necessitate updates to the city's Future Land Use Map.
