Hart City Council awards bids for historic district and well upgrades
Hart City Council extended the city’s six-month moratorium on data centers and digital mining for up to six months, through May 26, 2027, or until new zoning rules take effect. The Planning Commission is reviewing amendments that would define data centers, identify permitted locations and establish development standards.
The Hart City Council approved a six-month extension of the city’s moratorium on data centers and digital mining after City Manager Nichole Kleiner said the Planning Commission was reviewing proposed zoning amendments. The amendments would establish definitions, permitted locations and development standards for the facilities, with a public hearing scheduled for Nov. 5 before the proposal goes to the council.
The extension is intended to prevent the existing moratorium from expiring on Nov. 26 before the new ordinance is approved. The council also approved contracts for a parks and recreation plan, historic district assessment and rehabilitation of Municipal Well No. 2, including a $100,000 transfer from projected water fund revenues for the well work.
