The factory will produce mid-range transformers vital for data center projects, semiconductor plants, and other industrial operations with significant power demands. Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of Hitachi Energy, highlighted that these transformers would "close this critical gap from transmission transformers to industrial production." U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright emphasized the need for such components to support the expansion of electrical infrastructure.
This investment completes Hitachi Energy's $1.5 billion commitment to boost its U.S. production capacity, aiming to address the country's record-high power demand driven by the proliferation of technology industry data centers and electrification initiatives.
