Aligned Data Centers is constructing a 425,000-square-foot, two-story data center facility in Plano, Texas. The $700 million project is being developed in phases for Lambda Inc., a cloud computing company backed by Nvidia.
The initial buildout is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year, with the first 9 megawatts of computing power ready for Lambda to begin installing servers in June. Additional capacity will come online in 9-megawatt increments as construction progresses.
When fully completed next year, the data center is expected to have 72 megawatts of computing power. Gregg Poole, vice president of platform execution at Aligned, described the facility as an example of the ongoing data center development boom across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
