Indianapolis City-County Councilman Ron Gibson reported that his home was shot at 13 times between 12:45 and 12:50 a.m. EDT on Monday, while he and his 8-year-old son were asleep. A note left on his doorstep read, "No Data Centers." Neither Gibson nor his son was injured in the incident. The shooting is believed to be linked to the proposed Metroblocks data center project in Gibson's Martindale-Brightwood district, which he supports. The project has drawn significant opposition over concerns including pollution, noise, water use, and power demand. Last week, the Metropolitan Development Commission approved the project, which now awaits final approval from the City-County Council. Council President Maggie Lewis condemned the violence as an "alarming and unacceptable escalation," emphasizing that no elected official or resident should fear for their safety due to public service or policy positions. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, FBI, and Homeland Security are investigating the incident.
