Three building permits totaling $40 million were issued for a new AI data center in Birmingham, Alabama. Hoar Construction received the permits for the 300-megawatt facility, which will be operated by Nebius Group N.V. and located at the former Regions Lakeshore Operations Center site.
Three building permits, collectively valued at $40 million, were issued last week for the development of an artificial intelligence data center in Birmingham, Alabama. The permits were awarded to Hoar Construction for the planned 300-megawatt facility, which is slated to be operated by Nebius Group N.V. of Amsterdam.
The data center will be located at 201 Milan Parkway within the Oxmoor Corporate Park, on the site of the former Regions Lakeshore Operations Center in Birmingham's Oxmoor neighborhood. The project, which will support advanced AI workloads and high-performance computing systems, is expected to create approximately 100 jobs. A demolition permit for the existing structure was approved in January 2026, with initial construction phase permits granted in April.
