The Hanover Planning Commission recently voted to recommend approval of a proposal from Denver-based firm Tract to rezone nearly 430 acres for a master-planned data center development called Mountain Road Technology Park. The project, which will include multiple data centers and supporting substations, now awaits a final decision from the Hanover supervisors at a future meeting.
In a related development concerning regional infrastructure, Goochland County supervisors unanimously approved allocating $250,000 from their general fund to advocate against the Valley Link project. This venture, involving Dominion Energy, FirstEnergy Transmission, and Transource, proposes a 115-mile power line through Goochland and eight other localities. The allocated funds will support a community action task force and engage technical experts to strengthen the county's opposition efforts before Valley Link Transmission LLC files with the State Corporation Commission later this summer.
Additionally, the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors is expected to vote on two residential projects, Taylor Ridge and a 380-unit complex in Enon, both of which received positive recommendations from the planning commission. Henrico supervisors also approved the county's fiscal year 2027 budget and celebrated the installation of a new 312-kilowatt solar array at the Springfield Road Landfill, projected to save the county hundreds of thousands in electricity costs.
