Harmony Township canceled a scheduled meeting to consider a two-year moratorium on data center development after officials determined the public notice was published two days short of the required 15-day period. The proposed moratorium concerns Geronimo Power's planned 500-acre data center near Mapleton.

Gov: Harmony Township, North Dakota Century Code

Harmony Township canceled a meeting that was scheduled to consider a two-year moratorium on data center development. The action was postponed because the public notice was published 13 days in advance, rather than the 15 days required under the North Dakota Century Code, potentially making any vote invalid.

Geronimo Power is planning a data center spanning more than 500 acres near 160th Avenue Southeast and 32nd Street Avenue in Mapleton. The company, which focuses on solar energy and battery storage, said the proposed site addresses concerns including noise and water use and that its commitment to continuing discussions with Harmony Township remains unchanged. No rescheduled meeting date was known.
