Hundreds attend data center supplier outreach event in Shreveport

Hundreds of people gathered at the Shreveport Convention Center for a supplier outreach event for a new data center project in northwest Louisiana. The data center project, which was announced early this year, is now entering its construction phase, with developers preparing to mobilize crews. The event aimed to connect the data center developers with local businesses that can provide various services and materials, including civil workers, steel workers, and other trades needed for construction. Bassel Mahgoub, who works with Mid South Metal Company, noted the significant financial changes and opportunities such a large project brings to the region. Even food distribution companies expressed interest, recognizing the need to feed a hungry workforce. The North Louisiana Economic Partnership confirmed that crews are already mobilizing on the data center sites, performing tasks such as fencing and timber removal, signaling the immediate start of construction.
