Palm Beach County Staff Recommends AI Data Center Approval
Palm Beach County's planning staff has recommended approval for Project Tango, a nearly 200-acre AI data center, stating it meets county zoning rules with conditions. The project, located near Saddle View Elementary School, faces community opposition due to its proximity to neighborhoods and a school. The Zoning Commission will consider the recommendation, with the County Commission taking the final vote later this month.
Palm Beach County's planning staff has issued a recommendation to advance Project Tango, a proposed 200-acre AI data center. The facility is planned for construction along western Southern Boulevard, in close proximity to Saddle View Elementary School.
The project has encountered considerable opposition from local community members who have voiced concerns regarding the data center's suitability for a location so near residential areas and a school.
Despite the community's reservations, county staff asserts that the proposal aligns with current zoning regulations, provided the developer adheres to a comprehensive set of conditions. This recommendation precedes an upcoming Zoning Commission meeting, where the commission will deliberate on whether to endorse or reject the staff's findings. The final decision on Project Tango is anticipated to be made by the County Commission later this month.
