Joseph Spraggins, a Lowndes County resident, voiced strong opposition to a proposed data center project in a letter to the editor, directly addressing county commissioners. Spraggins, who moved to the county for its peace and quiet, urged the commissioners to reject the development "Not here or anywhere in this county."

He accused the developer, Cloverleaf, of disseminating misinformation and highlighted significant concerns, including the data center's immense requirements for "millions and millions of gallons of water" and a "ton of electricity" necessitating a new power station. Spraggins warned that the project would negatively impact humans, livestock, the environment, and significantly decrease property values, dismissing it as "corporate greed" rather than economic development. He also raised the specter of legal consequences for accepting bribes, challenging commissioners to stand with the people against "billionaire predators."
