Yukon voters recalled Mayor Brian Pillmore after months of criticism involving city transparency, spending and plans for a proposed data center near residential neighborhoods. Joe Phillips won the Ward 3 council seat and will replace Pillmore, while the City Council is expected to appoint a new mayor at its next meeting.

Phillips said residents were not adequately consulted about the proposed facility, which he estimates would be about 300 yards from his home. He does not oppose data centers generally but wants them located away from homes, citing potential effects on neighborhoods and livestock. Phillips said he would support a development moratorium, while recall organizer Joe Horn called for more transparent city government. Pillmore did not respond to News 9's request for comment.
