Wrightstown, Wisconsin, is facing a community debate regarding a potential data center development, despite no formal proposal having been submitted. The discussion follows news that Cloverleaf Infrastructure has listed the Village of Wrightstown as a possible location for one of their facilities. Residents like Nestor Says Gulf, who has lived in Wrightstown for 14 years, voiced significant concerns at a recent Village Board meeting. Gulf indicated he might have to move if a data center came to town, citing worries about environmental impact, potential noise, and construction dust, which he believes could exacerbate his existing lung condition. Other concerned residents also attended the meeting, questioning trustees about potential tax revenue benefits versus resident concerns. Officials from Cloverleaf Infrastructure confirmed to Local 5 News that they are exploring sites across Northeast Wisconsin, with Wrightstown being one of the options. However, the Village Administrator stated there are currently no formal data center proposals. Trustees emphasized that any project would be thoroughly evaluated based on its merits and suitability for the village, promising transparency and public input. Several trustees also stated they would not support a moratorium on data centers or changes to zoning laws specifically to exclude them, preferring to research and consult experts on the pros and cons.
