The La Crosse Park Board recently reviewed a resident survey regarding a proposed indoor aquatics center to replace a closed north-side public pool. With just over half of the 4,140 responses in favor, Park Director Jay Odegaard stated the 52% approval was not a strong enough mandate to proceed with the nearly $1 million project. While some public meetings showed higher support, Odegaard and La Crosse School Superintendent Aaron Engel, who are collaborating on the project, noted the overall survey results were indecisive.
Separately, local radio news anchor Brad Williams, who regularly covers local government, highlighted recent actions by the La Crosse County Board. Williams noted that the board passed an 18-month data center moratorium. This indicates an active governmental decision impacting data center development in the county.
