Residents of Salix, Iowa, participated in a national "No Data Center Protest" this morning, gathering peacefully in front of City Hall. The local "Save Salix No Data Center Group" organized the event, which was one of over 100 similar protests across 40 U.S. states, coordinated by the grassroots organization Humans First.

One Salix resident noted an increase in public awareness regarding data centers, stating that more information is emerging to educate people about their potential negative effects. The resident highlighted that when the issue first arose, many were unaware of a data center being considered for Salix, but now more people are researching and finding "way more negatives than positives." A moratorium, intended to pause data center development, is currently slated for a vote by the governing body.
