Dr. Randi Pokladnik, an environmental scientist and long-time activist in the Ohio River Valley, is scheduled to present on "The Environmental Impacts of Hyperscale Data Centers" at the Dover Public Library on July 8. The presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. at 525 N. Walnut St. Pokladnik plans to discuss the growth of data centers across Ohio since 2010 and their potential effects on local communities.

Key concerns to be addressed include the demands on power generation and usage, various forms of pollution such as light, air, and noise, and broader impacts on rural lifestyles. Pokladnik, a retired research chemist and teacher, was previously honored as the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition's Activist of the Year.
